…Nice relaxing week end
Saturday - .talk party/BBQ in Warrington. Which was nice as I haven’t been to a talk event in over a year now so haven’t seen many of the .talk bunch for that long!
Sunday - Back to Nottinghamshire (where I am now), to see my parents.
Monday (Today) - My Mum is coming back with me this evening to London for the week, and I’ve just dropped my sister and her friend at the train station as they are going down to London too, for a summer school. I have work on Tuesday and Wednesday this week (only), my mum is going to occupy herself seeing relatives she hasn’t seen in decades in Eastbourne though. Thursday and Friday I have off doing god knows what with my mum. Then my sister is staying over at the weekend too (not sure where I’m sleeping!).
Wednesday is my birthday, and we’re all meeting up to go to China town near Leicester Square
Can’t wait. There was me thinking I’d been spending my birthday at work (someone else is on holiday, so for the first time in my life I have to work on my birthday!), then do nothing perticular in the evening.
Oh, and Virgin Trains Pendalino 1st class FTW… Better than Midland Mainline 1st class! Though Midland Mainline standard class FTW over Virgin standard class, because you still get mains power at your seat. This weekend I’ve been on Virigin trains, First TransPennine, Central Trains, and Midland Mainline later. First was a “mistake” after someone thought it would be clever to report our train as cancelled from Warrington Central when it wasn’t. So we got off the First train at Manchester and waited for it. Hmm.. I wonder how many miles that is.
I’m rambling now….
Microsoft Certified Professional
I know certain people will comment, spitting in disgust at that.
Finally got round to sitting exam 70-270 (Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional). Passed with flying colours - a score of 986 which is bloody good. It’s out of about 1000 points (depends on the questions). Just wondering what to do now. Wouldn’t mind doing something Cisco related
I just wanted to get my first proper useful qualification exam out of the way tho (with a easy one ;)). Last exam I did was A-Level computing in 2003!
Had a nice weekend again too. No work. Nice and chilled out. I went and watched the film Transformers this evening, which was a VERY good film. Loved it. Had it all - Humour, shooting, you name it.
Highly recommended - Newton Faulkner’s album ‘Hand Built by Robots’. Cheering up slightly now. Rebecca bought this at the weekend, I only caught the start of it though before she dropped me off at the train station. Play.com link
Edit: Hm just noticed an interesting bug. The time stamp on this post says the same as the last post. Even though when I check in the admin section that it is 19:44 as it should be. Eh?
What a crap day. Felt like most people just wanted to moan and upset me. Not even talking to mum after I ended up shouting down the phone at her because I refuse to be made feel bad for something which isn’t my fault.
Currently listening to and liking The Fray and Yellowcard … in hope it may calm me down. Not sure how. It’s just depressing me more.
I’ll just go back to sitting here mumbling to myself now.
I spent the weekend in Warwick visiting Rebecca (old school friend who has recently finished her degree and got a job with it working at Warwick Hospital as a social worker). We spent Saturday in Stratford-Upon-Avon, which was great. Nice and relaxing, just what I needed after the last week or two, and very interesting. We had a guided walk around where we learnt lots of interesting stuff, nice lunch etc, then an evening ghost cruise down the river! Photos here http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=11261&l=614ef&id=610247622 (don’t worry, I don’t plan on sticking them on Facebook from here on in, just easiest at the moment, as yes the gallery here is broken and I’m too busy or too lazy when I’m not busy :P). Also did some baby stuff shopping for another old school friend Rachele, who has just had her first baby, Jessica :)
Sunday involved me taking Rebecca to do her first Geocache but it had been muggled
I wonder if the American’s I bumped into at another Geocache in Warwick found it on Friday as they were off there next (I did a random Geocache in a park while waiting for Rebecca to finish work after getting off the train). First time I’ve bumped into fellow Geocachers ‘on the job’, and how nice it was. Then off we went to Lemington Spa for lunch and a bit of shopping, and I found the DVDs of Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 that I just had to have.
Oh and just because Rebecca won’t let me forget, we saw the guy who plays the Welsh doctor Jimmi in Doctors (a BBC drama) Adrian Lewis Morgan, in the pub while in Stratford-Upon-Avon too!

I don’t think this is quite the use they had in mind for the “Cities I’ve Visited” Application on Facebook?
I’m well traveled in England and that’s about it…
Alot of them aren’t even cities! Annoying cause if they are doing it like that there are looooooads more I can add, Wales would be busier for starters.
The delights of what is going around in my head at the moment…
I haven’t been this ill so I was about 9, about 14 years ago! Tuesday I felt ‘reasonable’, ie. no major fever, aches had gone, though my sore throat was till terribly sore. So I went to work on Tuesday. Oh that wasn’t a good idea. Just like working through the weekend wasn’t. Spent last night throwing up
I seem to get away with stomach bugs (as I say I have done for the last 14 years!), and thought I had again (had given other people who’ve had this bug dodgy stomachs). No such luck though!
I said I was going to run the Cancer Research, Run for Life next year. Well stuff that. I thought 5K was further than 3 miles (I’m a miles person!). So roll on their 10K run
I like giving my self challenge!
All for an exceedingly good cause and in memory of a wonderful person. I’m always up for a person challenge too (getting fit again :)).
Battled through the weekend with fever, aches, and sore throat etc WHILE working ALL weekend! Body just gave in completely on the way home on the stuffy central line train (very hot tin can) though and thought I was going to pass out
Hardly slept last night from wriggling about in pain and sweating from a fever/high temp. Throat kills with out even doing anything. Pulled muscles from all the random stuff I had to do at the weekend (patching a coms unit (network and telephone), crawling about under desks when the idiots who suppose to have plugged all the PCs in hadn’t, working out what telephone went to which socket so I could patch it back in, unpacking and setting up some new TFTs…), made even worse by the general aching.
Urgh. Something’s going round cause I’m not the only one
Wanders off to go back to lying down and to finish dying… well it feels like it
